" A labour bitten by Russel's Viper on Head "

" A labour bitten by Russel's Viper on Head "

On 27 July 2019 around 9pm our helpline received a call from a person that his fellow worker is bitten by snake on his head and snake is still there inside the hut.

Our rescuer Omkar Kolekar told them not to waste time and rush him immediately to Thane civil hospital. Within ten minutes he reached there and started looking for snake. Finally he found juvenile Russel's viper coiled inside shoe of the worker. He safely rescued the snake from there.

The worker was about to sleep on floor where snake was already under Chatai. As soon as he touched his head on floor , VIPER out of self defense bit him on head behind ear. He immediately alerted his neighbors. Meanwhile snake moved to his shoes kept in corner and took shelter inside shoe.

Our volunteers later visited him in the Civil Hospital and enquired about his health. His health was stable and there were no symptoms . But he complained about severe headache. We suspect it to be case of scratch bite or dry bite. He was kept under observation for 2 days and was discharged on Monday.

As its pouring heavily outside there are high chances you may come across snakes nearby your localities. We urge you to take all precautions to avoid such instance and in case of emergency do contact nearest widlife rescue ngo or Forest Department.
